Coach: Jason Wilson


Give us a little background on who you are and where you're from?

G'day I am Jase. I am a Kiwi and have lived on the GC since 1993. I partied my twenties into obesity now have changed my mindset and getting myself and others back to a better state of being. (I do not look like your typical PT yet lol)

How long have you been a coach for and what got you into the health & fitness industry?

I have been in the fitness industry for almost 2 years. I love it! Helping people that are where I was is a great feeling. I awas 140kg bloke due to excessive food, alcohol and inactivity at work and home. I tried for years to break my own cycles until I found the magic recipe...and it is simple.. Keep going :)

What did you do before you were a Coach?

EVERYTHING! lol I worked in call centres, Security, hospitality, chef as well as many other random side hustle jobs over the years :)

If you could only do one exercise for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Yeah .. Tough one. I think it would have to do with life balance rather than just lifting (that would no doubt be deadlift) I quite enjoy hiking so will say walking.

What was the latest thing you've learnt in your area of expertise? Or currently learning?

I am in the midst of an awesome course MRC which is movement restoration and applies a lot of functional movement patterns to assist in getting the body moving better while minimising injuries.

When you're not at the gym/with clients/working - what do you like to do to relax and unwind?

I enjoy a good hike, dabbling in my aquaponics garden system and writing music (some would Not call it that lol)

Who is someone you really admire in the health and fitness industry and why?

Chris Cooper. He has built his businesses around honesty and integrity with his help first model. I respect that.

What's your favourite quote? fitness related or not.

Weakness is cured by strength :)

Favourite book/YouTube/Netflix/article you like to recommend to people? Related to health and fitness.

Ha! Um... There are a lot. For someone looking at their diet That Sugar Film is an eye opener for sure.

Who is your typical client and how do you benefit their life?

I enjoy a variety of 'typical' clients but I feel I attract more of the weightloss geared people due to the fact that I have been and 'doing' it. Still not at my end goal yet :)

What do you see most people struggle with when it comes to their health and fitness?

Perfection. I feel a lot of people think they need to be perfect from day one and if they are not they will fail. I am here to tell them all they need to do is move towards their goal a little bit continually and they will reach their goals and also be more likely to maintain it

What's the best piece of advice to help with this?

KEEP GOING! it does not matter if you had a cake, a pie, 32 icecreams or pizzas yesterday... Get back to it and keep going. We create the new normal.
